Murphy Warehouse Company's Environmental Policy:
“Murphy will lead our company and train our employees in ethical ways that increasingly benefit the environment by controlling pollution, reducing and removing waste, decreasing consumption, and compliance with all legal or regulatory requirements to provide a safe and secure work place. It is the duty of all employees to participate in the protection and preservation of our office and warehouse environment.
We will continually improve our communications regarding sustainability concepts and our goal of being an environmentally respectful company to all our partners, customers, tenants, suppliers, and neighbors. Murphy’s target goals are to conform to the standards of Environmental, Health and Safety, maintain our LEED certification, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 certifications, document, implement, measure, and maintain sound green principles.
Sustainability, recycling, reusing, waste reduction, pollution minimization and purchasing environmentally friendly materials should be a priority to reduce our impact on the environment; where it is cost effective.”
Green Purchasing
Whenever it is cost effective, Murphy has a policy of purchasing green and sustainable items which range from Rainforest Alliance certified tea, free trade coffee to 100% recycled entrance mats. We have organic starch packing peanuts, closed towel systems, anti-microbial soaps, cleansers, dish soap, 100% recycled paper products, 30% recycled office copy paper and 70% recycled office furniture fabrics.
Recycling Program
Recycling is a big initiative at Murphy. We recycle enough paper to save 30 trees each year. Cardboard recycle is about 150,000 pounds each year. Plastic bottles, cans, and glass are recycled at 30,000 pounds each year. Truck batteries and air brakes are 1 to 1 recycling. Other recycled items at Murphy are oil, wooden pallets, plastic air bags and light bulbs. Office furniture is repurposed and reused.
