At Murphy we leverage our internal resources in effort to benefit our customers. By utilizing our large, flat roofs, and investing in Minnesota manufactured solar panels, we are able to better collaborate with our customers while attempting to eliminate unnecessary energy usage. Not only do such practices eliminate costs, but support our company's vision of executing leadership within the warehousing industry. 

The five solar power systems were installed in Fall 2010 and 2011at two of our LEED Gold Certified facilities. Even though these panels take up less than 2% of the buildings while produce 50%+ of energy use.

Murphy's partnership with a local photovoltaic solutions supplier, tenKsolar, proved to be key in investment. Three major innovative solutions allow for us to control our solar panel use:

• Running at a lower voltage the panels operate more efficiently
• Investing in panels that are constructed to shade a portion of the panel so that it doesn't shut down
• Producing power only when asked by a controlled device using Smart Panel Technology
