| Most of our sites in the Twin Cities were developed with surfaces resistant to water and as a result stormwater runs off to municipal stormwater systems. In 2007 our 22-acre logistics Minneapolis Campus was hit with a $68,000 annual stormwater fee due to federal mandates. As cities are assessing more and more stormwater fees on businesses, we chose to invest in an ecological-friendly solution to avoid such fees. Murphy invested in a stormwater management system that not only benefited our Minneapolis site economically, but ecologically as well. The new system improved water quality as it re-entered the ecosystem and city network. Doing so, we were credited from the city of Minneapolis based on improvements in controlling both stormwater quality and quantity. Such green practices as stormwater management have allowed us at Murphy as a company to better serve the environment and community while providing exceptional service to our customers. Today we are able to handle stormwater onsite and reuse it. For more on our storm management systems, as well as our other "Green" business practices, please contact us today. |
